The Chinese word for "most beautiful, also translates to "peony". Greek mythology tells the story of Paeonia, who attracted Apollo, then made Aphrodite act out in jealousy, turning her into a peony flower. Paeonia, in all her magenta glory, left me in awe as I captured her blossom unfolding in my kitchen.
